Mapping the Underworld Project

Prepared and delivered a dissemination strategy; organised a national dissemination workshop to maximise the impact of University research being undertaken to use innovative technologies and software to map and improve efficiency of underground utility works. Univ of Birmingham March 2011

Small scale hydro-electric scheme

Carried out feasibility study for private water mill owner in Warwickshire including technical and environmental assessment, and the options of turbine and water heat source pump. Private client January 2011

Construction Waste Recovery

Review of County Council construction projects to assess current waste recovery activities with proposals to increase recycling and recovery of construction materials. Warwickshire County Council March 2010

Funding Review – Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies

Carried out strategic review of public and private sector funding available currently in UK and EU on behalf of Act on Energy – a Warwickshire-based energy advice centre.  Act on Energy Sept 2010

Disseminating Research
Developing a strategy for the dissemination of research for the Sustainable Urban Environment team at Birmingham University. Understanding the processes by which sustainable regeneration is achieved and the methods used to disseminate the lessons learnt ensures that sustainable urban development is included in future project planning processes. Waste Wood - Private Client
Prepared report to identify the UK waste wood sector and examine the potential for the use of waste wood in large scale biomass power and combined heat and power plants.Private Client funded through the Manufacturing Advisory Service (West Midlands) - July 2008

Evaluation - Bayton Road Industrial Estate Focus BRIEF
Carried out an end-of-project evaluation of this 2.5 year initiative funded through ERDF and AWM to improve the business environment of this large industrial estate in Bedworth. Warwickshire County Council 2006

Advanced Construction Technology Centre ACT-UK
Development of a Feasibility and Business Plan, with HMC Ltd, for this £8 million initiative which will establish the UK national training and professional development centre in Coventry. Project includes the establishment of a construction business incubator and a Building Management Simulation Centre, providing 'state of the art' off-site learning resource for site managers. Learning and Skills Council 2005-2006

Action for Business Colleges
Worked with three UK Further Education Colleges (Aylesbury, Stratford-upon-Avon and Henley) to carry out vocational training audits and to develop and implement an employer engagement model leading to an increase in vocational and management training opportunities. Learning and Skills Council 2004-2006

Strategic Area Review of e-learning
Carried out an extensive review of e-learning affecting SMEs and rural communities. Study included internet-based learning systems, college provision, accessibility, online content development, technology infrastructure. Learning and Skills Council  2004-2005

Choice of science GCSE
Carried out a survey of former pupils to identify the appropriateness of their choice of science GCSE to assess future provision of science courses in the school.

Socio-economic study
Researched the socio-economic data to identify the particular characteristics of the wards and areas from which the School draws its student catchment.
